The Story of KAIA

KAIA was born from a very personal idea: to create in Jacó the kind of place where I would want to stay myself.

I wanted to create a retreat where guests could enjoy the tropical essence of the area without giving up comfort, design, and the thoughtful details that make a space feel special, welcoming, and close to home.

After more than 20 years working in the corporate world of communications, I decided to take a new direction and bring my experience into a more personal project. For many years, I worked on building brands, concepts, and experiences, always with a particular sensitivity to look and feel: the way an idea looks, feels, and creates an emotional connection with people.

KAIA is that same vision applied to hospitality.

I did not want to create only a beautiful place to sleep. I wanted to design a transformative experience: a space where people could slow down, rest, reconnect with themselves, and enjoy a more meaningful stay.

I chose Jacó because of its proximity to San José, its relaxed energy, and its privileged location, surrounded by nature and close to other beautiful beaches and destinations along Costa Rica’s Central Pacific coast. It is an ideal base for enjoying the ocean, exploring the area, or simply taking a break from everyday life.

Every detail at KAIA was chosen to convey calm, harmony, and wellbeing. The colors, lighting, layout, textures, and amenities all form part of a carefully created experience designed to make every guest feel comfortable, welcome, and connected to the surroundings.

KAIA is more than a place to stay. It represents a new chapter in my life and a different way of creating experiences: through a space with identity, purpose, and soul.

KAIA was born from a very personal idea: to create in Jacó the kind of place where I would want to stay myself.
